Full disclosure I'm trying to read books like the one I've written so I have some comps for my query letters and really struggling to find any. So what I'm after is:
Historical (ideally the western US, 1880-1910)
Gritty/violent/morally gray characters
Not religious! How do these books keep being Christian?! I've been duped twice now.
With sex! Either a romance novel or women's fiction with sexual elements. To be honest, I don't super know the difference.
The Las Leonas series was cute, but the story was so incredibly predictable, there was never really any tension. So like, that but with teeth.
Bonus points if at least one main character is fat.
Any authors you lovely people recommend?
