I recently got a job where reading is one of only two things I can do to pass the time (the other being writing, which is nice as I really want to be a writer). So I’ve been trying to get back into reading both as a means of getting better at writing, and to have a healthier form of pastime than my usual anime and video games.

Problem is, I don’t got a lot. I read Fourth Wing, and just kinda thought it was pretty good. Charmingly edgy perhaps. I also nabbed the Percy Jackson box set because I loved it as a kid, and while it’s obviously a little too simple read at times, it’s still a blast.

Still, a part of me is desperate to read something in the same genre as what I’m writing. A queer romantasy. I like queer themes in general (gender identity, love, self-actualization, etc), and I like the action and whimsy that comes with fantasy. So anything along those lines is very much appreciated.

Some non book things I like and want some similar vibes to, just for reference: Revolutionary Girl Utena, Steven Universe, Heart of the Woods, the recently deleted She-Ra reboot, ATLA / Korra, and One Piece.

I don’t know if it’s romantasy as opposed to just fantasy romance but *Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die* by Greer Stothers.

    3. Fable for the end of the world is a decent standalone in a dystopian world featuring a queer fmc. The invocations isn’t romance forward but features queer characters and has very cool eerie witch vibes The ones we burn also has a queer fmc who is quite a badass brute of a witch.

    4. Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree, FF

Paladins Hope by T. Kingfisher, MM

Bethiah by Ruby Dixon, FFM sci fi

Feet of Clay (or anything, really) by Terry Pratchett. Not romance but funny, kind, hopeful fantasy. A unique take on exploring identity.
