I really enjoyed The Monstrumologist and I’m looking for more books, comics, or manga that focus heavily on medical detail, dissections, field investigations, and analysis of supernatural creatures or monsters, not just action or fighting them. Any recommendations like that either dark fantasy, horror, medieval vibes, or even post-apocalyptic(bonus points if its low fantasy or historical-ish) would be awesome!

dude yes the monstrumologist was such a hidden gem, that whole autopsy scene in the first book was incredible. you might dig the southern reach trilogy by jeff vandermeer – annihilation especially has this whole scientific investigation vibe with a biologist studying this weird supernatural area and documenting everything she finds. there’s also the luminous dead which is more sci-fi but has that same methodical exploration feel where the main character is investigating an underground cave system and cataloguing all the creepy stuff she encounters. for something more historical/medieval you should check out between two fires by christopher buehlman – it’s set during the black death and follows characters dealing with supernatural stuff while also being very grounded in the medical knowledge of that time period
