I’ve *never* been much of a reader. Could never stay focused. But after failing in love with the Regretting You film last year, I read the book and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. I’m currently halfway through an Ali Hazelwood book called Two Can Play. As a 23 year old man, I never thought my entering of the reading world would be cultivated by teeny bop romance novels, but here we are. I don’t think heavier stuff would really intrigue me (domestic abuse, lengthy sex scenes, etc), just lighthearted stuff, I suppose.

I’d also be thrilled to jump back into sci-fi books I used to love when I was younger (planning on rereading the Hunger Games and Divergent series), so if anyone has any recommendations for stuff like that too, I’d be thrilled!

    1. I HIGHLY recommend the new hunger games since you mentioned rereading the original trilogy. Sunrise on the reaping had me feeling my 13 yr old self reading hunger games for the first time. I would also recommend the following: red rising (sci fi), divine rivals(magical realism, a good live story too), anything by Emily Henry (she does have more descriptive sex scenes but there is always an emotional gut punch to her romances and she writes characters to feel so real), Shatter Me (a lengthy series but has cool magic and is more on the YA side of romance)
Also, it gets to be more romantic but the throne of glass series is dear to my heart

better than the movies is kinda like a friends to lovers young adult romance, that’s a good read and love theoretically by Ali hazelwood is good aswell.

In addition to the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown, try the Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman. It‘s a young adult sci-fi with a light romance subplot. Maybe also the An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir. It’s more fantasy than sc-fi but very good, I think.
