I recently finished rereading This is How You Lose the Time War and I love the prose in it, but I also love that it's set against a really interesting fictional setting and story. After the 1st read I tried to find other books with good prose but a lot of them a classics/romances/contemporary and even if they were well-written, the plots were often too mundane. Doesn't necessarily need to be a big scifi time war, but I'd also like to read something that isn't just the characters going about boring daily tasks.
I also recently finished the game Disco Elysium and found that I really like the weirdness and existentialism and philosophy of the game. Now I've tried to read books like these before and they often just feel like essays or manifestos, not stories.
I know it's a very specific ask but if someone could recommend any books that fit those kinds of vibes, I'd be so grateful. Thanks 👍
