I’m not a reader and hardly ever touched a book in my free time. But I’ve really wanted to start reading and I was searching for a book to start with.
Preferably something with a kind of medieval fantasy vibe or dark fantasy being some of my favourite pieces of media {Sou sou no Frieren} and the soulsborne games, with some romance in any degree. I enjoy extensive world building and lore and cute diabetes inducing romances.

I always recommend starting with short stories, novellas, or YA fiction for new readers, as just like any other hobby you have to build up stamina. So for darker toned medieval fiction:
The Ranger’s Apprentice: darker toned action adventure with solid relationships and fun dialogue, lots of dry humor. If you like these then you could next try: The Riyria Revelations.
The Queen’s Thief: Setting is cusp of renaissance greece inspired more than medieval, the first book starts as a nice, extremely well written, action adventure, but the series gets darker and more political intrigue focused with each book.
I would start with h{{The Name of the Wind}} It won’t let you down!
