Hi everyone. I'm looking for something that feels like these K-dramas/movies (I don't know how to describe it best to not spoil anything):
– Stranger from hell (Lee Dong-wook): oof this still give me chills just thinking about it. I love how claustrophobic it was. I was literally holding my breath the whole time just waiting for something to happen.
– Flower of evil (Lee Joon-gi): detective series. it have some psychotic behavior from the characters. you somehow know whodunnit, but the way the story unfold feels like you know it for the first time. it was still a surprised even when you kind of already knew it. The OST was lit though.
– The call (Park Shin-hye): straight up PSYCHOTIC. It started hopeful for the MC but then turn sideways because she was greedy The movie was about MC wants to change her past, and when she got it, she got greedy and became violent
– Forgotten (Kang Ha-neul): eeeeerieee. but it also makes me feel sad. about family, parents, neglected child, overall just normal (toxic) asian household
I don't want bestselling novels recs anymore. I've read highly recommended horror/thriller/mystery books (silent patient, gone girl, etc); while some of them do deserve the high rating, the ending, plot twist, story line felt too safe and "clean"(?). nothing sticks with me. nothing gave me the chills, eerie, creepy vibe. I'm not looking for supernatural or ghosts horror. I want "human-monster' energy where the horror comes from the how messed-up people can be.
anyone know any books like this? thanks reddit! you guys always give the best recs!!
