I became curious as I've come across some books that were interactive in some shape or form, and to be fair I kind of wanted to have this discussion here, as videogames usually only get mentioned when talking about how they take attention away from other hobbies, such as book reading.

Still, I like to enjoy a little bit of everything. Videogames, movies, books, photography, painting, music, dance… Human expression takes so many different forms it almost feels bad to enjoy just one. And regarding videogames and movies, they are media products that still require writing, although it has to be adjusted to the medium.

I'll have to admit… My favourites are very "gamey". But I did come across some games that do something interesting, both as interactive products and from a writer's perspective. The Case of the Golden Idol and Return of the Obra Dinn come to mind.

And naturally, adventure games tend to feature excellent writing as well, albeit more on the witty end of the spectrum. Titles like Secret of Monkey Island, The Cave and even RPGs like Deathspank share a lot of the same humor in their DNA (same writer). Speaking of RPGs, one could argue that characters in games like Dragon Age tend to be very well written as well.

What about you? Do you read and play videogames? What are your favourites? If not, do you find yourself completely satisfied with books, including interactive ones?

    1. Reading has taken over my video game time as I’ve gotten older. Unless you count playing Euchre online. I play in a few leagues so a few evenings each week for an hour or so.

    2. I don’t really play video games, tbh. Not really my thing. The only game I will consistantly play is *Tiny Bookshop*. Yea, it’s a game about selling books, and includes both fictional and actual titles.
