      The dark side of love by Rafik Schami. Three generations of feuding families in Syria.

      East of Eden by John Steinbeck for sure. The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak is another good one.

    3. Last Night at the Telegraph Club has some great parts about first- and second-generation Chinese-American immigrants!

      This is my favorite genre of book!!! The closest I’ve found and the best has been A History of Burning by Janika Oza.

      Others that are good:
      Brotherless Night by VV Ganeshanathan
      The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See
      Homegoing by Ya Gyasi

      Also anything by Khaled Hosseini

      Fortunately for you the intergenerational family saga is one of the most popular literary genres.

      Every answer given in the thread so far is excellent and will give you what you’re looking for.

      My own suggestion would be A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth

      h{{Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen}}

      edit, not sure why the bot pulled *Jane Eyre*…
