Hello,
I'm in the mood for something to turn my brain off and while I've read a bunch of the standard Napoleonic War Naval fiction that's common, I'd like to know if there's anything like that for WW2.
Something where on the scale between on one end you have Moby Dick, in the middle you have Aubrey–Maturin and at the end you have Horatio Hornblower/Richard Bolitho. What I want to read is more on the end of the scale near the Hornblower/Bolitho bit.
Is there anything like that?

The Winds of War and it’s sequel War & Remembrance by Herman Wouk come to mind. Epic scale, some soap operatic elements, large cast of characters – they’re thick books.
