I’m going on 2 and a half years with my beautiful partner, who I adore. She had Lyme disease as a kid, was bedridden for four years from age 11-14, and recovered as a teen, but her post lyme symptoms began significantly affecting her life again just before we got together. Her health has always been a significant factor in our relationship, and she has progressively gotten lower mobility throughout the years. As a result, our relationship has always been somewhat inter-abled, but I’m feeling it a lot more now.

I’m looking for a book that is geared towards partners of folks with disabilities, in inter-abled relationships. Thus far, any books I’ve found on the subject have been focused more on either disability awareness (ie. disabled writers talking about their struggle in attempt to educate those who don’t experience the day to day) or books focusing on providing tips to the disabled partner about how to communicate needs to an able bodied partner. Anything not in those two suits are often written by those who are MUCH older than us (we are both 25). Anything by a younger author, that tackles how to set healthy boundaries as a caregiver, or even just focuses on the perspective of a younger caregiver would be much appreciated!
