help. i just finished Throne of Glass and the hangover is nearly unbearable.
i’m looking for something—anything—that could even begin to match what it felt like reading ToG for the first time. i’m genuinely worried i’ll never love a character the way i love Aelin, or any of the other mc’s. there’s something about following a storyline for eight beautifully written books, the loyalty and devotion that comes with it, that feels impossible to replicate.
the way Aelin was written — the chaos, the brilliance, the element of surprise, the unrelenting fierceness — is designed to make you fall in love with her. you ache when she aches. you rage when she rages. to me, that’s the greatest marker of an extraordinary series as a reader: when the author makes you feel that deeply for fiction characters.
i’ve already finished everything that’s out in ACOTAR, and while i adore Rhys and Feyre, and Nesta’s book is my favorite, it’s just… different. i was planning to read Crescent City next to round out the SJM universe, and i’m sure i’ll love Bryce in her own way — but she’s not Aelin, and nothing quite feels like Throne of Glass. it is god tier and one of the finest of the genre in my opinion.
i’m open to anything that will hook me, wreck me, make me laugh, keep me up far too late, have me biting my nails, shock me, and ultimately change me the way ToG did. i know i’m asking for a lot — but i’m desperate. any recommendations would be so appreciated.
