This seems like it might be a tough one, idk… I like the clarity and sense of fun of Young Adult romance novels, but I also like having enough time to get to know the characters, and YA books are over in what, 300 pages tops?
Basically, if I said I wanted to read A Suitable Boy, but have it be about cool wisecrackin' teens and not depress me horribly, where would your mind go?

most ya romance series tend to stretch things out across multiple books rather than one massive tome, but if you want that deep character development in a single book you might need to look at new adult instead
the seven husbands of evelyn hugo isn’t ya but has that breezy readability with actual substance, or maybe try something like the priory of the orange tree if you don’t mind fantasy elements mixed in
