can someone recommend me some works of speculative, dystopian, and/or apocalyptic fiction whose tone is comedic and/or satirical? i’m in the process of writing my own novel, and while i really enjoyed dystopian classics like *brave new world*, *1984*, and *parable of the sower*, they have a much grittier vibe than what i’m going for with my piece. i’d like to have a grasp of other books that satirize our late-stage capitalistic hellscape so i can see where i’m being derivative and also so i can have something to compare my novel to when i get into the query process. thanks!

Jason Pargin’s (aka David Wong) Zoey Ashe series comes to mind. First one is called Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits
There are elements what you’re looking for in the hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy series. Much of it is just light nonsense with hand-wavy sci-fi, but [can’t really do this without spoilers, but I don’t think they’d detract from the enjoyment of the books]>!Earth being bulldozed by bureaucrats, the guide being a massive mega corporation wrecking planets, the galactic presidents being solely for the purpose of distracting from power, and several other things are definitely satirical!<

You might enjoy the “Upon This Rock” series by David Marusek
This is basically everything written by Jasper Fforde. He’s the king this sort of thing. Shades if Grey (and it’s sequel Red Side Story) are probably the most like what you’re looking for but Early Riser is definitely in there too. I’d recommend all his books tbh
