Hi,
I am looking for books with a similar prose to Bet Easton Ellis' Less than zero, ie first person, present tense, affective minimalism and ideally the "dreamy" feel from those long sentences wit the repetition of "and". Although similar themes could be a plus, its really the prose I am looking for.
I feel Bret's later works increasingly deviate from this style, especially from American Psycho and onwards. I have read through all relevant posts i could find, which often focus more on theme than prose, and based on that i have read Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting and Filth (not really minimalist IMO), Chuck Pahlanuiks Fight Club (more minimalist, but lacking the dreamy feel).
The only book I have found so far that captures some of the same feeling is a German book called Faserland by Christian Kracht.
Next on my list are Joan Didions Play it as it lays, Bright Lights Big City and Tao Lin's Shoplifting from American Apparel, but since I find myself spending time reading books that aren't quite what I'm looking for I would like to see if anyone has any tips to books with the same prose, and not just the same theme (and if the mentioned books fit the bill)
