Mainly I’m looking for recs that blew you off your feet because of the way they’re written or the way the author presented their plot. Initially I’d focus more on separate recs but if a book is great in both these dimensions I’ll happily have that too.
I’ll take most stuff that’s fiction and preferably not extreme horror or romance (at least if there’s a romantic element it’s only a side plot with no or little to no relevance to the man storyline)!

*I Who Have Never Known Men* by Jaqueline Harpman, imo, fits both categories (brilliant plot a little more so). It’s about a girl who grows up in a cage with 39 women, surrounded by silent guards who don’t let them touch each other, and she is the only one of them who has no memories of a normal life before their imprisonment. It’s written from her perspective, and the little details she does or does not think are important enough to share with the reader really help highlight her unique mindset.
