I'm trying to read more mystery, thriller books this year.
I really like thriller books with culty vibes – I read The Scammer by Tiffany D. Jackson last year and really enjoyed it. However, when looking at the Goodreads lists about cult fiction, most books are quite low rated; 3.5 to 3.7 stars (which is low for Goodreads!)
Can anyone recommend their favorite books? I just put The Mirror House Girls, After the Fire and The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly on TBR today.

Karen Rose’s Sacramento series (starting with Say You’re Sorry) has cult leaders as major players, though it takes time to get into them, and you’re mostly not actually seeing life inside the cult.
Worth warning that multiple (adult in the books) characters have experience of being sexually and physically abused in the cult as children.
Last Days by Adam Nevill
It definitely dips into more horror but is a pretty good mystery too.
