I really enjoyed the anime 86 and was looking for books with similar themes. What I liked about the anime is how emotional it was. The feeling of dispair and hopelessness in the beginning, how it dealt with survivor's guilt, etc. I just really liked Shin's arc. Looking for books that are similar, ik there are light novels following the show.
