If you've ever seen the show Midnight Mass on Netflix, I'm hoping you can recommend me a book based on this specific element of the show. In the show, the aspect that I found the most terrifying was how everyone was sort of blindly following what they thought was an angel- but turned out to be something much more sinister. That's what scared me. The fervent, religious devotion and kind of blind faith and assuredness that they were doing the right thing based on their religion. It reminds me a bit of religious psychosis – maybe that's a better term for it. I am looking for a book that has that element to it. People falling into some sort of religious psychosis with detrimental results, or blindly falling into some sort of cult following. If anyone knows of any books that feature this sort of premise, please let me know!
