    Hi all,

I’m looking for a book or short stories to read that feel like a big hug. Something that’s hopeful and comforting. I’m currently reading The Bear by Andrew Krivak.

Some of my favorite books that match this vibe are the Monk and Robot duology, Wayfarers series, Beautyland, In Universes, Project Hail Mary, The True True Story of Raja the Gullible, Martyr!, and Light From Uncommon Stars. Also Humankind: A Hopeful History and A Paradise Built in Hell for non fiction.

Others that fit the description but weren’t my favorites: I Hope This Finds You Well, The Wedding People, The Midnight Library, Remarkably Bright Creatures

    (tw: animal death)

For context, I just unexpectedly lost my cat a few days ago. He was only 3 years old and we didn’t even get a year with him (his heart was just too big for this world). He was the most cuddly, sweet, perfect boy who would run up to greet me when I came home, sit on my lap with his head on my chest, and sleep in my bed with his little head tucked under my chin. I loved him more than I thought possible.

Reading has always been a great way for me to process and grow. I’d love some hopeful, comforting reads to help get me through the next few weeks. It’s okay if it’s emotional, just not too dark and of course no animal deaths. Both books and audiobooks are good with me.

Thank you ❤️ Give your pets a big squeeze for me.
