I’m a 26F with a good education and a job I always wanted, but lately I’ve been feeling incomplete because I’ve barely dated and always imagined a big romantic love story growing up.
In my culture, marriage is often seen as the biggest achievement for a woman, and I’m trying to unlearn that mindset. I don’t want to rush into the wrong relationship just to feel fulfilled.
I’m also looking for book recommendations that might help me build confidence and feel more complete on my own. Any suggestions?

The Custom of the Country by Edith Wharton is a beautifully written classic that completely skewers the marriage plot for women. Generally, i think reading books about women with jobs is helpful, as it shows lives other than as wives and mothers (or as all the above!) This includes heaps of detective, horror, science fiction and literary novels! If it helps, Im 43 with no husband or kids but i have 2 cats and friends and family and love my life!
