Hello everyone.
I want to start reading books, but I am afraid of choosing something that might feel boring for me. For people here who read books regularly, what books would you suggest for a beginner?
I am looking for books that are interesting and not dull, so they can help me enjoy reading and build the habit. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thank you. 📚

Another Roadside Attraction – Tom Robbins
Pick a genre you like. Thriller books got me into reading. If you like thriller then read ” the silent patient”.
I think the expanse series was the best at grabbing me from the start and never letting go. I read all nine books in about a month
The book that got me into reading was Keeper of The Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. (I was 12 at the time)
My favorite book series that made me so in love with books is The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
My favorite duology is if he had been with me, and if only I had told her by Laura Nowlin.
Better than the movies by Lynn Painter is a good one. (anything by Lynn Painter is good in my opinion)
If you like classics I suggest Jane Erye by Charlotte Bronte (it’s what got me into classics)
Nobody by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is also good.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is really good.
The Love and Gelato series by Jenna Evans Welch is good
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is really good.
I love The Giver by Louis Lowry is really good.
The first book that made me cry and is also in my top 5 of all time is Countdown by Ben Mikaelsen
How do you feel about graphic novels? I really believe in their potential to win people over to literature and reading.
I could give you better recommendations for something that’s not dull. If I knew more about your interests. What kind of movies, TV shows, video games do you like?
Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep by Phillip K. Dick
Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
Try short stories or short novels to see if you like the authors?
Kafka, Poe, Dostoevsky (not “man from underground” please), etc.
If you like fantasy check REH, HPL, etc.
A good novel to start inn the genre is Wizard of Earthsea IMO.
Also a few more:
**The Screwtape Letters**, by C.S. Lewis
**Animal Farm**, by George Orwell
**Brave New World**, by Aldous Huxley
**The Dream of a Ridiculous Man**, by Fyodor Dostoevsky
**The Death of Ivan Ilyich**, by Leo Tolstoy
And a varied collection of favorite authors that come to mind for having stories that are both very good and very short. In order of birth: Lord Dunsany (1878), Clark Ashton Smith (1893), Jorge Luis Borges (1899), Roald Dahl (1916), Philip K. Dick (1928), Ted Chiang (1967).
