i want something that won’t feel like i’m rehashing what i’ve already read/seen/etc. some books i thought did a good job of this(desc below) were you weren’t meant to be human by andrew joseph white, moonflow by bitter karella, motel styx by michelle von eschen and jonathan butcher, you by caroline kepnes, and the power by naomi alderman. i read a lot of somewhat generic queer YA romance and just a lot of generic stuff in general and im so tired of it.
explanations of my examples:
ywmtbh is a trans body horror novel about an autistic, trans, gay(?) man in an alien bug cult who gets pregnant and said alien bug cult makes him keep it.
moonflow is a drug fueled queer cult adventure and the first like 80% was amazing but the ending did fall through.
motel styx is about a man who visits the necrophile motel his wife donated her corpse to in order to “save” her, but his personality is slowly revealed to us.
you is written from the perspective of a stalker.
the power is a feminist urban fantasy book about people with a lot of estrogen(predominantly women) develop electricity powers
