a week or so ago I saw someone mention City of Thieves by David Benioff on Instagram, and then just happened to see it at the used book store, so I got it. I was immediately into it.
During WW2 in Leningrad two young men from different backgrounds end up together on a "mission." The writing is great, the pace is great, it's funny, sad, tender, profane. This to me is Literature with a capital L.
The book has been around since 2008 and I've only heard of it now??? Before I posted this, i searched and damn sure enough there were a bunch of posts about this book, the most recent being about 2 years ago.
If you haven't read this or heard about it, go to the library, the bookstore, whatever, and read this.
