Hey darlings,
I'm on a very good reading streak, but most of what I'm reading these days (and in general) is quite heavy in terms of plot/atmosphere/themes. I'm looking for something nice and lighthearted before I delve again into heavier stuff.
Generally speaking, I'm reading litfic (specifically queer litfic), and some sci-fi every now and then. To give you an example, these are the (wonderful) latest books I've read:
- The Safekeep // Yael van der Wouden
- Martyr! // Kaveh Akbar
- X // Davey Davis
- Stag Dance // Torrey Peters
So I'm looking for something that's maybe not so much litfic for a change. I don't really like romance as a genre (I don't mind a romantic/sexual subplot though), or YA. It can be mystery/thriller, but not too violent (got enough of that in my usual reads). Preferably not too long, and preferably a standalone.
I also enjoy the occasional nonfiction, though usually I read more dense/heavy stuff, so it should be on the cheerier/lighter side. Some (heavy) nonfics I really liked:
- King Leopold's Ghost // Adam Hochschild
- White Malice // Susan Williams
- American Prison // Shane Bauer
I trust the wisdom of the hive, hit me up with your wonderful suggestions 🙂
