I have two young kids, I run a business, and I’m writing a memoir. BUT I miss readinggggg and my youngest sleeps better now at night that I finally have a reliable pocket of time that I can consistently read. There’s SO MANY books I’ve missed out on the past several years thanks to the (beautiful but time consuming) years of young childhood. I would totally love to read books like Lonesome Dove, Babel, Demon Copperhead, God of the Woods, etc, but I feel intimidated by their thickness. Maybe they’re quick(ish)/easy(ish) reads, I’m not sure! But I’m interested in what recs y’all have for books that have come out post-COVID that are unputtdownable. I really miss that conflicting feeling over omggggg ok one more chapter or okokok I actually have to go to bed!! Whatchya got??
If it helps: I literally don’t care for romance. I’ve tried so many times. I don’t care for it. I can get down with fantasy, sci fi, difficult topics, I like fast paced – hunger games, dark matter etc. I like twists. I like tension. I like things that are realistic and I hate overused tropes — I’d rather see the recent divorcee enjoy her life a bit not fall in love with the first guy she talks to. *eyeroll*
Whatchya got?? Help get this mama back into binge reading!!
