books where important information is kept hidden from characters until later

To elaborate I mean plot lines involving important information that the reader knows about early on, but the characters don't realize until later on/end of the book. It could be something like characters being dead, being related, or knowing someone's identity etc. I'm interested in these type of plots to look at craft.
