I am curating a personal curriculum. I am a bit lost since I have not read non-fictions before (Only selective chapters of academic books which were used as primary texts for my uni courses).

If you have knowledge about the following topics, please suggest books as intros.

    My Motive: Entertainment

Output Goal: Understanding the topics in a foundational level to formulate my own opinion on the matter.

Scope: Breadth > depth. Basically exploring topics on the beginner level to figure out my preference. (i.e to figure out what topics I am interested in and want to explore more)

Format: Fictions paired with highly accessible, foundational non-fiction.

Length: <300 pages. However, open to 500+ page mammoths if needed.

Topics I'd like to start with:

    • Economics: I know the basics of micro and macro economics from doing the respective intro courses in my university. I was surprised I didn't enjoy macro economics that much despite really enjoying micro. Any book on macro to change my mind?

    Book:
Freakonomics by Stephen J. Dubner and Steven Levitt
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
    The Pearl by John Steinbeck

    • Philosophy: No prior knowledge

Book: The Republic by Plato The Stranger by Albert Camus

    • Psychology: No prior knowledge

Book: The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks
