Over the last few weeks, I’ve come across some books based on tv series that I was totally unaware of. Shows like Columbo, Hawaii 50, and Law And Order all have a handful of novels based on the shows. What other series are you aware of that had books? Novelizations and tie ins are an interest of mine and finding these little gems is neat!

Star Trek and Star Wars, but those are pretty obvious. Babylon 5 and seaQuest are two more that come to mind.
Psych, Monk, Murder She Wrote
Mark Frost (writer of Twin Peaks) wrote two books that flesh out what happened during the series.
Dr. Who, Burn Notice, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI Miami, CSI (original), NCIS, Police Woman
Dark Shadows had a whole series of paperbacks by Marilyn Ross. Many of them are now back in print. (Even more fun is listening to the audiobooks read by Kathryn Leigh Scott.)
Foundation series and Wheel of Time series. Also Rings of Power series.
Monk
Castle is a detective show about a writer named Richard Castle working with a detective named Kate Beckett, who writes a series of detective novels featuring a main character who is a writer named Jameson Rook, working with a detective named Nikki Heat (who the books are named after). He then wrote another series featuring a different detective named Derrick Storm.
So the tie-in here isn’t books based on Castle and Beckett, it’s the Nikki Heat series written by the character Castle. There is an actual published series of 10 Nikki Heat novels (first one is called Heat Wave) and 3 Derrick Storm novels plus some shorts and comics, all written under the name Richard Castle, who is not a real person because he’s the character from the show. (The actual writer of the first seven Nikki Heat books is Tom Straw, who is mostly a TV writer but does also have a few novels under his own name)
