I want a book that will completely immerse me

I have wanted to start reading books again after a very long time, but i am not able to start for some reason. I have tried reading Uncle tom's cabin and White Nights, but they weren't really my thing. I am trying to develop my taste for books and simultaneously enjoy the process of dooing that.

To be noted: at the time i had stopped i was reading things like Harry Potter and young adult books, so something more differnet than that would be good.
