New to reading as a hobby and also want to write, need book suggestions

I did my required school reading throughout my American early 2000's upbringing, I also went out of my way to read a couple classics as a teen (the divine comedy). Recently I've read the original Jurassic Park (loved it), and I've been trying to read Super Powerds but it's kinda boring.

I'm trying to write a superhero/Scifi novel but I don't know where to start with my reading.
