Suggest me a scifi / hard scifi book; preferably part of a series

Series I've particularly enjoyed:

• 'Xeelee' by Stephen Baxter (most of his books tbh)
• 'Hyperion Cantos' by Dan Simmons
• Asimov collection was a joy to read (I binged the whole lot one after the other)
• 'Quantum Evolution' by Derek Kunsken (eagerly awaiting book 4 out this year)
• '3 Body Problem' by Cixin Liu

I'm currently reading the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Hoping someone can expand my pool of favourite authors with some new suggestions. There's probably a ton of excellent Arthur C. Clarke books that I've never read, tbf.

*edit* thank you very much for all the suggestions, was hoping I would get some suggestions I'd never heard of, as it's so easy for me to fall into a rut of only reading the same authors.
