There are certain things I love about properties like Bridgerton and Jane Austen's novels, as well as (to a lesser extent) the Game of Thrones shows – and that's watching people scheme and jockey for positions and power while being constrained by rigid rules about social behavior.
What I enjoy less: when we leave the schemes to focus exclusively on romance plotlines, battles, or domesticity. I like my conflicts interpersonal, my insults cloaked in civility, and my dramas deliciously petty to anyone who isn't involved.
Historical or fantastic settings preferred to modern. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
