Basically I'm in a rut. I can only really read trashy romance novels, and I hate it. Nothing wrong with them as a whole, but I feel like I'm not being intellectually challenged enough nor gaining any sort of important perspective or insight really. Not sure how to describe this properly, but if anyone has a romance novel that has some more substance to it than a mildly problematic romance (i.e. explores some complex issue or human condition) but is still pretty romantic? I also like comedy. But importantly, it has to be a super engaging/easy read that doesn't take much effort to get hooked into. I like a novel of manners as well, and coming of age stories. I dunno, I guess if any romance-obsessed people such as myself who have gone through this same thing of needing a big romance story line to read anything have any recommendations I would appreciate it.

Books I have been able to read (they are kind of super random): The Love Simon book, Excellent Women (this was surprising, considering how the romance wasn't a huge part of it), Mhairi Mcfarlane (but I only liked Here's Looking at You and If I Never Met You), The Song of Achilles.

This post if kind of all over the place, but if anything I said makes sense and is giving you a sense of a book I might like, just recommend it! I am desperate!
