    1. The only plane crash / island survival book I read was Hatchet by Gary Paulson. Had to read it for school and I remember being freaked out as a middle schooler lol

Robinson Crusoe is worth a look. It has all the elements you list (but isn’t like “Lost”). It’s free, so you can’t beat the price. I really enjoyed it… several times

Kind of a deep cut but one of my favorite books as a kid was *Baby Island* by Carol Ryrie Brink, which was about two preteen sisters who get stranded on a deserted island with 4 babies after their lifeboat gets swept away. They have to figure out how to survive themselves and also manage the 4 babies that depend on them.

    4. All I can think of are rather gruesome survival ones like The Troop by Nick Cutter, or even Lord of the Flies by William Golding.

I think you found a niche for some aspiring authors!

Wild Dark Shore sort of is. It’s about an island near Antarctica that has to be evacuated.

    6. Lord of the Flies by William Golding

      Stranded by Sarah Goodwin

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell

There are lots of them. A lot of American school children used to read *Island of the Blue Dolphins*.

    8. Verne *Mysterious Island.*

It’s the trope creator of the castaways not only surviving but thriving. They set up a cave home with a waterfall powered elevator, etc.

I don’t know about plan crash and all, but the compound by Aisling Rowle is like a survival game, Like love Island . It’s quite engaging, I mean i finished it in one sitting, It also had a survival aspect to it…fighting for basic necessities and all. Do check it out.

    10. They don’t crash on a tropical island, but *The Mountain Between Us* is pretty gripping!

Island of the Blue Dolphins is a classic.

Other older books include The Coral Island by Ballantyne and Swiss Family Robinson by Wyss. Both should be available free somewhere! Not my favourites, but easy reading.

Have you read the beach by Alex Garland? Doesn’t meet all your criteria but it’s a fun adventure book.

    13. The Depths by Nicole Lesperance. She isn’t necessarily stranded as much as trapped. It’s written for a young audience but has beautiful imagery.
