Scifi-supernatural series/book? No space, wars, zombie apocalypses, vampires, magical kingdoms. Good characterization,

I want to get into reading books, but the issue is i dont know where to start. I know what i like though but i find that a lot of stories are too fantasy or spacey or vampirey ykno? I dont mind if it doesnt take place on earth or in a different dimension. Romance is fine as long as the characters have a good bond. Im just looking for something with really good character interactions, isnt taking place in normal reality, but also isnt taking place in a total different type of world.

I really enjoy the light novel no.6 so i am looking for series not necessarily similar but i think it has a good mix of what i want. Its scifi but the world isnt too different from reality, the main characters have a deep connection and you feel like you really know them and there is also a story taking place. I have also read otherside picnic, but only the manga for now, which is another idea of what im looking for.
