Can't think of a better way to describe it but hopefully my examples help.
When I was younger I read elemental by Antony John. I really liked the idea of the protagonists essentially rediscovering their world after leaving their colony.
Another example I liked is stormlight archive where alot of the history around the knights radiant and what caused them to disband and alot of general history of the world is learned by the protagonists over the 5 books.
Most recently and maybe the loosest example is maze runner where they all have had their memory wipes and have no idea why they are in the maze and what the world outside is like. This is alot less of the rediscovering but kinda gets the idea and I liked it alot.
Edit: posted and immediately thought of project hail Mary that I also enjoyed though maybe it and maze runner are a separate like vs the first 2 examples. I liked the main character being just out of the loop as us and us learning along side the main character as he regains his memory.
Any other books that may fit this based on this?
