I'm in need of a new book to carry in my backpack on my commute but shopping online it's hard to judge size. What's your favorite small-ish paperback (200-300 pages maybe?) you've read recently? Looking for something light and funny but on the drier side of humor if possible. Recently read all of Charles Portis's books and loved them. I like sci-fi as well. An element of romance is fine but not really looking for a true "romance" novel. But feel free to recommend anything if you really loved it! Open to trying all sorts of novels. Thank you!

Jasper Fforde’s Nursery Crime Series.
There are two: The Big Over Easy (murder mystery about Humpty Dumpty) and The Fourth Bear (which involves Goldilocks and the 3 Bears).
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy too
Both are very British and dry.
Ha was going to recommend dog of the south. How about .. tenants of moonbloom or confederacy of dunces. Flannery O’Connor short stories also are great and frequently funny.
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. It’s a memoir but don’t let that put you off; it’s laugh out loud hilarious. Funniest book I’ve ever read.
