I’m looking for introspective books, preferably under 300 pages, in which the main character is confined in some way and trying to get out. This can be physically, but also trapped in a relationship/time/eternity. Some examples: I Who Have Never Known Men, Piranesi, The Wall, Killing Stella, A Short Stay in Hell, On the Calculation of Volume.
