I recently finished In the Lives of Puppets and it was excellent, clever and emotionally poignant, I also like RA Salvadore's Drizzt books action, world-building, and stakes (though sometimes he does use archaic words for clout, just a pet peeve).
I'm looking for a combination of the first's emotional resonance and character building combined with the second's adventure, journeys across unique settings, and general excitement. Enemies to lovers allowed but not preferred. I'm very opened Science fantasy and steampunk/gaslamp fantasy and prefer 3rd person but am open to 1st

If you are willing to continue with Salvatore’s writing his series the **DemonWars Saga** is quite good and checks most of your boxes (it is not set in the Forgotten Realms, and has no connection to Drizzt) with MC’s written that are just as engaging and fun as Drizzt (imo).
I’ll also throw out **The Dragonblood Assassin** series by **Jaime Castle & Andy Peloquin.** Well thought out and unique magic system bonding with dragons, and 2 MC’s that turn enemies to lovers, Great fight scenes that I couldn’t put down with a great plot.
