In a reading slump and I remember fondly churning through Wool, Shift and Dust that comprise the Silo series by Hugh Howey. What I liked about it was the anti authoritarian-ness, the rebelliousness and the intrigue of the story. The whole mystery around why the silos were built, what's going on in the outside environment to make the silos and the full body suits necessary etc etc. And of course we have an allegory to Plato's cave going on so I like that there was opportunity for analysis.
I'm not usually a sci-fi kind of person so don't feel the need to recommend that genre specifically. Open to any fiction that isn't romance
just seeking a story that is, 1. entertaining. 2. easy enough to read that my dopamine depleted brain does not have to work too hard. 3. stimulating enough that I could start to think deeper about it, if I wanted to, but reading the book does not rely on the reader noticing the symbolism or allegory necessarily. I want it to be fun and flip worthy but not to insult my intelligence
bonus points if it's popular enough that I can walk into a physical store and buy it today
