I am not a young teenager, but i realize that my tastes are so. If you go to the YA section of like half price books, you see books like diary of a wimpy kid (which aren't YA and i want something more mature)
The books are either that or books like A Good Girls' Guide to Murder, one of us is Lying, to all the boys, etc which i suspect are good but im not quite ready for such books yet.
I have started to read Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, (i had posted this question here before back when i had just started the book) and i liked it but what really got me was when she mentioned shegot invited to a party but the party was just a ruse so the host could sell sex toys.I don't wanna seem prudish, i simply don't wanna read about that. i just wanna 100% avoid those themes
Some books I have read:
- Front Desk by Kelly Yang (masterpiece, but the book is for 12 year olds)
- Gordon Korman's classics like Restart/Ungifted/Supergifted/The Unteachables/Schooled (very funny and entertaining, but again, they're for kids)
- Counting by 7s (this one actually hit the spot really well)
- Fish In A Tree (same as front desk)
my favorite genre is realistic fiction/slice of life. I want a story that takes place in modern times and preferably has no sexy stuff nor swearing. I have started to read Japanese novels like Convenience Store Woman, which I'm loving so far.
For a reference point, one of my favorite shows is Young Sheldon (yes it's corny asf but it's still good)
