I’ve been trying to get back into reading, and I’m hoping someone here can recommend a book that might meet me where I am right now.
I went through a major failure in both my personal and professional life, the kind that really changed the course of my life. It hit me hard. Then I was given a chance to recover, and I blew that too. Somehow, I was given yet another chance, and I still couldn’t seem to get it together.
I’m dealing with a lot of guilt, shame, self-disappointment, and honestly a lot of self-hatred and depression. I’m not looking for something shallow or overly inspirational. I’m looking for a book where the protagonist, or one of the main characters, goes through truly destructive failure, really falls apart, and yet somehow manages to come back despite terrible odds.
Not necessarily a perfect happy ending, but something honest, human, and maybe hard-won. A story about ruin, regret, and redemption. Fiction is preferred, but I’m open.
Any suggestions would mean a lot.
