Hi everyone! My first post on here, I would love to hear what YOU like!

I read all the YA romance as a kid/teen, which mostly consists of fantasy, and centers on teens as the main characters. I am older now, and I want to start reading romance books with older characters, better writing, and focus more on the romance aspects.
I'm reading Sense and Sensibility currently and I really like it so far! But I would like something a little more recent. I would also like the romance to be the focus of the book.
It seems like it would be best to be specific, so here are my dealbreakers/dislikes:

Absolutely NO: Graphic sex scenes, infidelity/cheating, horror/thriller themes, underage MCs, toxic relationship between MCs.

I Dislike: Overly sarcastic/snarky MCs, boring/blank slate MCs, overly political themes, comedies (some humor is fine, but I don't like straight up comedy)

I Like: MCs with unique personalities and appearances, good writing, angst, a variety of time periods (I'm not picky about this!), I prefer to read heterosexual romance, female POV.

I hope I don't sound too picky! I am very much looking forward to trying something completely new, so please recommend away! And I would be happy to answer any questions if I'm forgetting something 🙂

I’m not sure you will have too much luck with romance that is contemporary, does not have sex scenes and is also not comedy, but maybe I’m misunderstanding your request. My favorite romance authors are Jude Devereux and Nora Roberts. They are usually very emotionally grounded lovely stories and while they may have sex in them, it’s always really tasteful and relevant to the stories. Now mind you, I read most of these 15 years ago, so I’m not familiar with newer works they have written, but I would still recommend them. Nora Roberts also writes fantasy and under a pen name writes mysteries (J.D. Robb).
