How do we all find out when new releases are announced or launched, particularly from authors you want to follow? I know Amazon has a follow author feature, but assuming one wants to decrease their reliance on the behemoth rather than increase it – where else do you turn? Not every author has a social media presence, and a lot of book selling websites will only (understandably) announce the guaranteed sellers. Anyone have a solution that's worked for them?

Been using Goodreads for this even though it’s technically Amazon owned too 💀 But their author follow feature is pretty solid and you get notifications when they announce new stuff
Also check if your favourite authors have newsletters – most of them do and they’re way more reliabe than social media for announcements. I’ve found some great releases through my local bookshop’s newsletter too, they’re usually pretty good at highlighting lesser-known authors alongside the big names
StoryGraph is another option that’s gaining traction, might be worth a look if you want to avoid the Amazon ecosystem completley 📚
