I really enjoyed this book and am looking for similar reads. The humour was great (some genuine laugh out loud moments) and the characters were endearing – thoroughly recommended. Plus, you get to go to Berlin in the early 2000s. And NYC.

Without trying to avoid LGBT literature, when I look for similar books everything “similar to” seems to be broadly categorised as LGBT novel and I’m not sure if they’re being recommended to me specifically because it’s an LGBT storyline or because the novel has a similar feel.

To be clear I’m more than happy to take recommendations centred on an LGBT character/storyline if it’s something in a similar style/feel/quality of writing.

While the book was excellent it’s Schnall’s only novel so far, otherwise I’d just keep reading his catalogue.

    1. Maybe “Other People’s Clothes” by Calla Henkel — it’s admittedly not similar plot-wise but it also takes place in 2000s Berlin (and briefly NYC) and is very funny. It centers around two American art students living and throwing parties in Berlin.
