I’m in my mid 20s and have not been fond of reading on my own until recently because I spent the last four years reading nonfiction for college classes. I have to read my books out loud, or else I don’t remember anything. What fiction books do you recommend for me?
Books I’ve enjoyed:
Animal Farm, The Masque of Red Death, Between Two Fires, Thrawn, Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe
Shows/Movies I’ve enjoyed:
And Then There Were None, The Terror, Knives Out, Jurassic Park, Dune, Daredevil, Zodiac, Indiana Jones, Invincible, Andor, Alien(s)
Genres/themes I’m interested in:
I love history. I like a good mystery/thriller (I’m really good at predicting movie twists and get bored easily). I do like a classic sci-fi/fantasy/arthurian adventure where it feels like the character(s) is/are actually in danger from the environment, monsters, or people. Horror elements and religious themes are welcome; I’m fond of how The Terror and Daredevil incorporate these two.

If you like Sci-Fi, try Star Trek series
Blake Crouch’s man-on-the-run sci-fi thriller ***Dark Matter***.
I recommend trying audiobooks, if you haven’t already, if you want to take a break from reading aloud.
1. Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV
2. Locke & Key by Joe Hill
3. The Night Eaters by Marjorie M. Liu
4. Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong
5. The Red Palace by June Hur
6. Chasing the Boogeyman by Richard Chizmar
7. I’ll Stop the World by Lauren Thoman
Why not read the book versions of the movies you liked? Or the tie-ins
Here are a few scifi books that are pretty catchy:
Project Hail Mary
Red Rising
Hunger Games
– Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
– The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
– The Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky

I think you’re going to like Megan Derr’s newest release, Edge Of Knight. Cyberpunk fantasy quest in a near-future dystopian world, starring the reincarnated Knights Of The Round Table.
