I'm on a weird kick for these types of books lately.
I've already read:
The Face on the Milk Carton series
Twice Taken by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica
Vanishing Act by Jodi Picoult
Crash and Burn by Lisa Gardner
Despite the mystery flair, they don't have to be particularly scary or suspenseful, though it's also fine if they are. I'll even accept romances.
I prefer that the protagonist be a girl or woman, but I won't rule it out if you have any suggestions that center around a male character.

The Deep End of the Ocean by Jacquelyn Mitchard
Just finished The Wife’s Secret by Megan Miranda and it had this exact vibe – woman starts questioning her whole childhood after finding some old photos that dont add up. Really well paced too without being super intense
Also might want to check out What I Remember Most by Cathy Lamb, its more of a family drama but the whole “wait was my life a lie” thing hits hard when teh main character starts piecing together her past
Keep It In the Family by John Marrs, though this is not the focus of the book
