This might be too specific, but has anyone read a fiction (or a memoir) book about musical theatre/broadway? Specifically looking for a rom com that isn’t trash or a fiction similar to Taylor Jenkins Reid vibe type of thing. if anyone knows of anything like that please let me know! TYIA

The YA novel *When You Get the Chance* by Emma Lord is about a high school girl who wants to be a professional actress and finds herself in a real-life Mamma Mia situation. It’s very cute.

For nonfiction, there’s lots of great memoirs from theater actors. Try the memoirs from Patti LuPone, Andrew Rannels, Sutton Foster (it also has crafts!), and George Chakiris (which focuses on West Side Story).

One of my favorite nonfiction books about musical theatre is *Everything Was Possible: The Birth of the Musical Follies* by Ted Chapin. Chapin worked on the show as an intern and it’s based upon his journals. It gives a lot of insight into how the production developed.

*Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History* by Glen Berger is the history of the infamous, tumultuous Spider Man musical that ran on Broadway 15 years ago. Berger was one of the writers.
