I personally don’t like fantasy books, as in action, etc. I do own a lot of books like Trainspotting, American physcho, and handmaids tail but I have never been able to properly get into them and do not have the attention span for them. (Something I’m trying to work out.)
All I’ve been able to read properly so far is tumblr fanfics on my phone (which may not sound great.)

Start with a book of short stories! Either a book entirely by one author (like Miranda July) or a collection of various authors. That way you can have smaller stories to start with, and potentially discover authors or writing styles you want to read more of.
Why do so many people misspell “psycho” like that?
omg same girl, my attention span is nonexistent these days! have you tried “normal people” by sally rooney? it’s got short chapters that make it easier to get through and the writing style is super accessible.
omg i’m 19 and also struggle with attention span!! have you tried “normal people” by sally rooney? it’s got short chapters and feels kinda like reading good fanfic but with actual literary cred lol.
“The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet” is a 2014 science fiction novel by Becky Chambers that follows Rosemary Harper as she joins the diverse crew of the spaceship Wayfarer, exploring themes of family and personal growth.
